Keble at Large is the college’s student-led Outreach Society. Dedicated to myth-busting and truth-spreading, the society is built up of engaged, socially conscientious, Keblites who really want to make a difference to the way Oxford is perceived!
Keble, like many Oxford colleges, has a society dedicated to improving access for those from underrepresented socio-economic and educational backgrounds.
On a day-to-day basis, this means giving tours to students from target schools up and down the country, primarily from our Regional Outreach linked schools in the West Midlands (specifically the local authorities in Birmingham, Coventry, Sandwell, Solihull and Warwickshire). These tours are vital because they demystify Oxford and quash misconceptions about student life here for students who often lack expertise and support from school throughout their Oxbridge applications.
Volunteering with KAL is a low-commitment role that allows you to be as involved as you want to be, with no pressure on how often you decide to take part. There are also opportunities to feature on our socials, either by telling others about your journey to Keble, doing day-in-the-life story takeovers, or featuring in videos for our brand new access YouTube channel. Make sure to follow KAL on Instagram to keep up to date with everything we’re doing, and join the volunteer group to be made aware of opportunities to get involved.
KAL unites Keble students from all socio-economic backgrounds with the aim of making a difference, and it has done great things since its creation, but we want it to continually evolve and improve. We hope that this year will be its most successful one yet! If you would like to get involved in Keble at Large’s Committee, or have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the Access Officer.
